How Our Community Association Began
From a rented church hall to a global network — revisiting the founding years through the memories of those who were there.
We had nothing but each other, and that was enough to begin.
The earliest meetings were held in a borrowed church hall, with folding chairs and a single kettle. There was no budget, no office — only a determination to stay connected as families settled into new countries.
Within a few years, informal gatherings became a structured association with committees for welfare, education and cultural events. The founding members drafted the first constitution by hand, debating each clause late into the night.
Today that same spirit endures in every chapter. This archive preserves the documents, photographs and recollections of those first years so future members will always know where we came from.
